Charleville is the centre of the Murweh Shire which has a wide cross section of industries. We are in a semi arid climate zone with hot summer days and cold winter nights.
Our area is well known for its Cosmos Centre and Observatory and for its captive breeding program for the endangered Bilby.
The Cosmos Centre and Observatory is a must see. Our night sky is crystal clear and you may be lucky enough to see the rings of Saturn. The centre also offers “Astronomy by Day” during which the local guides hold information talks.
A visit to the Bilby Centre is a highlight for many visitors to Charleville. It is the home of the captive breeding programme for this endangered species.
Charleville boasts some great fishing spots and regular competitions are held by the Charleville Fishing and restocking group. Visit www.murweh.qld.gov.au for information.
Graham Andrews Parkland is a great spot to shop and stretch your legs with a walk around the lake or just a picnic lunch in the park. It is also home of the Vortex Rain making guns.
